"Wow..."

My wife and I were fortunate enough to be upgraded after booking the sister resort Breezes for our honeymoon. The hotel itself was absolutely stunning. The gardens and villas very picturesque just walking into reception was other worldly compared to other hotels we had stayed in during our safari trip prior to arriving here. The attention to detail is second to none fresh flowers in the room every day freshly picked from the sumptuous gardens. The standards and fit and finish of the rooms was perfect each villa having a mix of Arabic, Indian and African style which was both relaxing and comfortable. We were there during the rainy season which meant some rain but the weather was still beautiful when the sun came out and the resort had DVDs and games for when the weather was less than perfect. The tranquility and relaxation was perfect for my wife and I though and we were perfectly relaxed. The food in the restaurant was perfect the menus thoughtfully created with a mixture of Swahili flair and eastern influences the only slight problem was the choice was a little limited for the evening meal however the quality more than made up for it and there was always the vegetarian choice too. This is not the sort of hotel which had a multitude of entertainment every night but that again suited us and added to the relaxed air for our stay here. The staff couldn't have been better, so many who were helpful and friendly and couldn't do enough for us. We would definitely like to go back again in the future. Traveler photos

"Excellent hotel and food"

The accommodation at the Baraza is individual luxury villas in Moroccan inspired style. They are beautiful and well maintained. Staff are lovely and you are well looked after all times. Service around the pool during the day for food drinks and cocktails was very good and staff are very attentive. The food and service were 5 star and could not be faulted. It is silver service in the evening which is lovely for an all inclusive hotel and they did buffets on some night which served equally good food. We were on honeymoon and treated to a private pool side dinner which was lovely and offered to us by the management. The hotel is a little isolated so you can not eat out of it easily or visit the town. Stone town is a 40 minute drive from the hotel. We were happy however staying in the hotel but that is something to note. Spa is gorgeous – definitely a great hotel for relaxing, sunbathing and eating and drinking well. Mosquitoes and flies are an issue in Tanzania so take plenty of repellent and use it day and night. We would highly recommend this hotel. Guest nationality: British

"Treated like royalty"

We were lucky enough to spend 6 nights of our honeymoon here. The villas were beautifully decorated and very spacious. We had a private plunge pool, private sun loungers and a reserved area on the beach. At any time if we wanted any food or drink it was provided, made from scratch. The food was tremendous. I had lobster 4 times in a week! One morning the staff said they would like to offer us lunch on the beach. The built a canopy from scratch with woven palm leaves and designed a personalized menu. We had silver service on the beach and felt like celebrities. There is a reef on the beach which you can walk out about 1 mile in low tide and see tropical reef fish. It also means at high tide that the water is very warm. If you are considering Baraza and you can afford it, you won't regret it. Reviewed May 2012
