“Beautiful hotel - outstanding service”

Baraza is outstanding in many ways but where it really stands out is the service provided by the staff who were unfailingly friendly, smiley and keen to help and to please. They all had a wonderful "can do " attitude. Kalei the restaurant manager is amazing and will cheerfully accommodate any requests for food whether it is on the menu for the day or not. The food generally is superb with alternating set menus and buffets. The emphasis is perhaps on seafood and there are frequent Asian flavours. The other guests when we stayed were from all round the world and no one country dominated which was good and the hotel seemed to manage to keep both honeymooners and families happy. The beach is beautiful although swimming is not possible at low tide when the water recedes right out to the reef. Low tide brings the local fishermen and women on to the shoreline and the beach is used by locals traveling to and fro usually on bicycles so you don't feel totally isolated from the islanders and their culture. The kite surfing is excellent if that is your thing. The spa was lovely, the cocktail bar great and the villas are large, private and well appointed. We had two weeks of pure enjoyment doing little else but chilling on the beach and by the pool and always looking forward to our meals by virtue of the great food and the lovely service. We will go back! N, B , K and E Guest nationality: English Reviewed August 9, 2011
