“The Perfect Place to Unwind”

“The Perfect Place to Unwind”

27th March 2014

After a week on safari in the Masaai Mara, I was ready for a week chilling out on a beach. My ocean front villa was huge, and gorgeously decorated in gold and cream tones fit for a sultan's palace, which is pretty much where it felt like I was! The private plunge pool and 'reserved' thatched umbrella and loungers on the beach are a stroke of brilliance-no need to worry about the guests who pop out at 7 am to 'reserve' the best spots with their towels and suncream and then disappear til mid-afternoon. I've read some reviews on here where people complained about the beach. Yes, it's on a reef, and at low tide you won't be swimming. So, stop complaining, put on the reef shoes and go explore! It's amazing out there-my guide wasn't from the hotel, he was a local fisherman named Ali, and he took me along on his hunt for the 'House of Octopus'. We found some of the wildest looking sea life you can imagine, and I had a fantastic time. The food was excellent as well-different cuisines on different nights, some amazing salads, and a truly inspired pastry chef, originally from Chicago. Thank god there's also a well equipped gym up at the spa. I've saved the best part for last-and that's the staff. They don't get any better than this. If there's something you need that they haven't already thought of (and you'd be pretty hard-pressed to come up with anything), they'll find a way to get it for you. I'll be back! Traveler photos
